Happy girls are the prettiest girls

My obsession love of Audrey Hepburn goes way back. I have always loved old movies and the stars that made them so unique. As a child, I was wild about Shirley Temple, and would have my grandma rag curl my hair into ringlets, and run around pretending I could sing and tap dance.

As I got a little older, I became addicted to AMC, a movie channel that used to play only classics, but now has new series's and movies that I don't think are classics in any way, shape or form. I would watch Grace Kelly in Rear Window, Marilyn Monroe in Gentleman Prefer Blondes and of course Audrey in Roman Holiday, Sabrina, and Breakfast at Tiffanys. In middle school I received those three movies on VHS for a Christmas present, and watched them over and over again.

In high school I found a simple black sheath dress and wore a tiara in my up-styled hair to my junior prom so I could look like Holly Golightly in Tiffanys. I even walked down the aisle at my wedding to an acoustic guitar version of Moon River, which is the theme song of Breakfast at Tiffanys.

Not only do I love the character of Holly Golightly, a waif in search of true love and financial security, I also love the person Audrey was. The quotes from her are amazing, as you will soon see when they are featured in this blog, and her charitable work with UNICEF and the United Nations is truly something to imitate and respect.

I have even gone so far as to say that if I ever had a daughter, which is of the slimmest possibility since I do not want children, I would want to decorate her nursery in black and white stripes, bows, white lace, and the palest of pink to look like Eliza Doolittle's dress in My Fair Lady.

"The most important thing is to enjoy your life—to be happy—it's all that matters."

Happy Friday, lovelies!

  1. Oh, I love her too! Sabrina's my favorite, and I watch it *all* the time. She's just so classic and lovely...I actually have a "What Would Audrey Do" book that I read and follow!

    Thanks for posting this!

  2. Stopping by from Mingle Monday! :)

I agree on the old movies - love them all! Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and Breakfast at Tiffany's are two of my favorites. You Were Never Lovelier is one of my favs, too.

You just made my day!
