Happy girls are the prettiest girls

Let me introduce....

Myself! I realize not all of you were readers of my Hair by Adrian blog, so I figured I should just introduce myself and my family, likes and dislikes, what I am in to and more!

First of all, my name is Adrian!

I am married to my best friend in the world, Billy. We met almost 8 years ago, over the summer when we both worked as day camp leaders at the YMCA. We spent that next year developing our friendship, learning about each other as only friends can, then in May of 2004, I asked him to be my boyfriend. {I know, so forward of me!} Two years later, we were engaged in a little public display of affection on Billy's part, when he concocted a plan to get us on stage at the Fillmore in San Francisco during a concert of one of our favorite bands. In August of 2007, we were married on the shore of South Lake Tahoe in an intimate ceremony with 50 of our closest friends and family. It's been a fabulous 3 & 1/2 years filled with love, joy, frustrations, growth, and change. Billy is truly my other half, my soul mate, my lover and my best friend. I am so thankful for his companionship, his reality checks, his silliness, the snippets of songs he sings that inevitably get stuck in my head. I love him!

I am 26 as of a week ago, on December 28th! I hold two jobs; my weekday job is as a nanny for a family with two kids, 11 and 13, who are both in middle school. Bryn and Kobe are fantastic kiddos, and I have been with them for 3 years now. I have been nannying for the last 6 or 7 years for various families. I love the bond you can make with the family, how you can influence the children to be the best version of themselves. One of the best parts of my nanny schedule is the hours. I work in the afternoons, 3-6ish Monday through Friday, and have the mornings to myself to do as I please. Usually I workout in the mornings, run errands or do chores around the house, and have some downtime to relax.

My weekend job, also my career, is as a hairstylist and makeup artist. I work in a salon for the most part, but I also offer my services to brides for their weddings, and have worked on many photo shoots, music videos and short films. Hair is my passion, it's my art and my release of creativity. Working 7 days a week is tough, but has been something I work hard to balance and make a reality.

I don't have any children, {nor do I want any} but I do have fur babies! I have Hemi and Rush, two adorable black cats with green eyes who are the sweetest things ever. They sort of rule the house, and we let them. I also have Marlo, an English Bulldog, who is hyper, stubborn, a great big love bug, and just adores belly rubs. She is the newest addition to the family, so she has the lowest rank on our pack list, which she really doesn't like, but has proved so beneficial to allowing the animals to get to know each other, and not try to kill each other.
Marlo is goofy and sweet!
Rushy loves food. You got food, she loves you!
Hemi is always showing off his cute white belly patch.
I love reading! Time spent in books is one of my favorite indulgences. In a slow month, I will read 2-3 books, and when I am really on a roll, I will read closer to 10. I tend to stick to "chick lit", romance, and girly fiction that has a cute heroin. I also love vampires! Yes, I read Twilight, but those aren't the vampires I like. I enjoy the Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter series by Laurell K. Hamilton, and the Black Dagger Brotherhood series by J.R.Ward. I will read just about anything though, as long as it's interesting and captures my focus. One of the best books I read in 2010 was Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen, which had no vampires and wasn't told by a female narrator. Oh, I take my books seriously, by the way. The last two years for Halloween I have dressed as some of my favorite vampire series characters; Sookie Stackhouse from the Charlaine Harris series that True Blood is based on, and this past year, I went as Anita Blake.

I have become an avid runner in the last year, having made a resolution to run a 5k at the start of 2010. Instead of one 5k race, I ran 3, and added a 10k in there for good measure. My hope for 2011 is to compete in a triathlon, the training for which I shall be chronicling here in bits and pieces.

Despite my best efforts to change, I have a notoriously terrible sweet tooth. I love to bake and cook, but mostly bake. I am known for my random cupcake concoctions usually involving some sort of sweet center, and have a way with chocolate chip cookies that astounds even the harshest cookie critic. I will share recipes with you when I find something I just can't keep a lid on, and frankly, I hate secrets and surprises, so you can have all my recipes!

Now, that I have gone on for ages, why don't you introduce yourself? I would love to hear your story, and get to know you a little bit!
