National Running Day!

Hi dolls! Hope your midweek is going well! A very happy National Running Day to all of you, I hope you get a chance to get in even a little run today--you might even love it!

I have had two good runs this week already. Monday I did 6.56miles in 1:02, and today I ran 3.23miles in 27:08. I was congratulating myself on my 8:26min/mile pace today, and realizing how far I have come in the last 18 months. when I first started running I weighed 150lbs, and was doing consistent 10min/miles. Now I weigh 132lbs and run consistent 8:30min/miles! It wasn't that long ago that I was a casual exerciser at best, who maybe ran a mile on the treadmill when I was feeling frisky during my sporadic gym sessions. Look where I am now! This could be you ;) It only took me 13 months to love running haha

My 2010 New Year's resolution was to run a 5k, so I gave myself 6 months to train for and complete my first one. I liked it so well, I set a goal to run another 5k 2 months later, than a 3rd 5k in November, and finally a 10k on Thanksgiving. As you can see below, my body changed as well as my form, and I finally got a great action shot of me running in the last race.

This year as you know I have been training for my first triathlon, which happens to be a week and a half away! I am so excited to do this race. I am hooked on the endorphins of my 5 day a week workouts and how good I feel when I finish each one. Pushing my body to run faster, swim harder, and bike more efficiently has really improved me not only physically, but mentally as well. I thought when I first started training that I would be tired ALL  the time from working so hard, but now I realize it gives me even MORE energy, and I feel restless and crazy on days I don't get to workout. I always think of the Modern Family quote that Phil says about Claire being like a border collie, she has to run every day or she goes crazy! That's me!

Now I just have to work on my form a bit more, seeing these pictures makes me realize I tend to be a heel striker, and I have to fix that to eliminate some knee pain that occasionally flares up.

  3. Woman, you are incredible. I love keeping up with your post-workout tweets (although they make me feel lazzzzzzzzzzy, haha). I can't believe your first tri is only a week and a half away! Woohoo! Can't WAIT to hear how it goes!! YOU GOT THIS!
