This recipe is actually called "apple oatmeal chocolate protein bars" but it actually tastes mostly like chocolate and peanut butter, so I renamed it appropriately. Also, I used almond butter, and it was just as delicious as peanut butter would have been.
I am in LOVE with this recipe, I could eat the whole batch in one sitting, but I freeze all but 1 serving at a time to keep me from doing that ;)
Chocolate peanut butter protein bars
2 cups old fashioned or rolled oats
1/2 cup natural almond butter
1 tbsp grape seed oil, or coconut oil etc.
1 tbsp ground flaxseed
4 scoops chocolate protein powder
1/2 cup unsweetened applesauce, adding more if mix is too dry
1. Line an 8x8 pan with parchment paper.
2. Combine all ingredients in a mixing bowl, using clean hands or a spoon until well blended.
3. Pour mixture into prepared pan and smooth with the back of a spoon until even.
4. Place pan in freezer for 30 minutes, then remove and cut into 8 servings. Place each serving in a small Ziploc bag and place either back in freezer or in fridge for easy eating.
5. Nom nom nom!





These sound great! I love making my own protein bars-- SO MUCH less sugar than the store kind. I'll have to try these.
