Where have I been?

Hi again my lovely blog friends! It's been quite awhile since I had a quality post. Recently, I've been rather uninspired to blog, and I don't think forcing a post makes for enjoyable reading, and let's face it, I'm lazy, so thinking up something to force would be too much work.

What have I been up to while not blogging?

Last week was bananas for me. Total crazy fest. Too much to go into detail about, so you get short snippets!

*The Hunger Games movie came out {YAY!} and I saw the midnight showing on Friday. It was wonderful. I will post some photos from that of my Effie look. I also made Guiness chocolate cupcakes, and sugar cookie bars to take with me, sharing them with friends, then passing them out to other people in the line when we were full. I made a lot of people very happy just before the movie!

*I visited the California capitol of Sacramento over the weekend for a fitness competition for my friend Tiffany. We stayed in an awesome hotel directly across the street from the Capitol building. The competition was good, but Tiffany didn't do as well as she hoped to, so the weekend had a sad feel. We did have the best post-comp dinner at a restaurant called Crepeville which made everyone much happier. The Marseilles crepe I had was divine! Freshly made crepe topped with goat cheese, berries, oranges and candied almonds drizzled in maple syrup, YUM!

*Sunday morning before I got back from Sacramento, my English Bulldog Marlo attacked Billy. In the course of a few days I was turned down for rehoming by the Humane Society, the shelter we adopted her at, and the local Bulldog rescue organization, all suggesting we euthanize her. I couldn't bear that, so when my friend C came to the rescue and took Marlo for me, I was incredibly grateful. Now my animal rescuing friend will attempt to rehabilitate her and see if she can pinpoint the triggers that caused the problems in the first place. LOTS of tears were shed last week, and I wasn't the easiest person to be around as my mood was desperate, sad and angry.

*I had a babysitting gig every morning last week {and this week too!} Unfortunately, it was a 5-8:30am shift, so I was up at 4:30am each day. Um, I'm not a morning person, especially THAT early! I was a high functioning zombie for the most part.

*My dear friend Sarah is having a baby any day now, and I co-hosted her baby shower on Saturday. I was in charge of the desserts, and in my head I saw a table covered in pastel colored goodies. I started my candy making and baking on Tuesday, and did little bits all week to create quite the spread. I'll post later in detail, it was too cute not to share in it's full glory!

Put those things together and you get a stressed out, emotional, tired me. Needless to say, blogging was so on the back burner. I hope to get back into a regular pattern sometime soon.

  1. It sounds like you did have sheer madness going on! Hopefully you are able to relax and sleep some soon! I am so sorry to hear about your dog, but it sounds like she is in very good hands, and that you did the right thing for her :)

I completely understand being either too busy, or just not feeling motivated to blog. I have had that feeling for awhile, but suddenly today felt like I just NEEDED to blog. So much so that I have quite a few posts scheduled, which will hopefully tide me over for a while :)

Hope you have a great week, and are able to get some much deserve rest!

  2. Oh my goodness Adrian. I'm so sorry about Marlo - how sad and scary! I'm glad she's in the right hands now with someone who will work with her and hopefully figure out what's up.

I hope things settle down for you soon! Congrats to your friend on the upcoming arrival :)

PS, Crepeville ... I'm hungry just thinking about such a restaurant!

  3. Ah I am so sorry to hear about Marlo :( Sending you both big hugs. Glad she is getting some help. My BFFs dog had a sorta same issue and turned out the dog was in a lot of pain and and needed surgery on both knees...

4:30 in the morning? Oh I would definitely be in a zombie-like state each day! I hope life slows down for you a bit this week!

  6. I'm sorry to hear about Marlo. How awful to have to make that decision. Hope Billy is doing okay and that Marlo gets rehabilitated soon.
